Infact there is no LAN icon in taskbar. This is what i did:. Its not at all showing the LAN. When i check in device manager, I can’t see the Network adapter in list. Plz suggest what needs to be done. Is it a fault of XP or my Intel motherboard. I want to try all the options possible. If your motherboard does not have such a connection, please tell us the make and model of the Ethernet expansion card you are using. This might be an argument for updating the BIOS. I’m sure the information is somewhere on the Intel site but I don’t know how to find it. And it would likely show up first as a checksum error.
I do know that the release notes say the LAN boot code has changed for the better and therefore the LAN characteristics will have changed. If it does show up, WindowsXP should find it. What do you see in the device manager under “Network Adapters”? When the “Run” windows opens, type: devmgmt. Blank totally. No network adapter. Dont know the version but my system is almost 4. And based on ur experience, how much time should it take? I am just preparing myself for the worst case scanrio.
