How do i install a new battery for my dead touchpad? Last one I tried to open and ended up breaking a bunch of clips and buttons. Go to Solution. It’s nerve-racking stuff if you don’t want to brick your device Never have opened a TouchPad, maybe one day if my main one ever starts crapping out. But so far, over a year of daily use and nightly charging, and it still works like it was new. Yes it was extremely nerve-racking until I just saw the HP Logo appear after only 5 minutes on the charger.

Details HERE! I have 2 TPs that have failed to start up no matter what I have tried to revive them, I have opened both and have put in replacement batteries with no success in getting them to boot.
I concluded that either the batteries are bad no charge or the TP hardware has failed. It would be helpful to know what the voltages on the battery connector plug of a functional battery should be pin out voltages to have any chance of getting the TP to boot up. Any other words of wisdom would be appreciated.
HP has basically given up on the webOS line of devices, and I’m unable to get any information from them even through the internal contacts that I know! There is no definitive “How to fix a dead touchpad” page that I know of, but there are many that offer suggestions and methods to try. Use Google to find them, and search webosnation. I did revive one dead TouchPad by using tpdebrick, but it only lasted a month before dying again.
Here’s my generic reply for dead touchpad. It does contain a link to the patch I mentioned. There are several other threads already discussing this topic, but they all say the same things: –Check your charger.
Try another micro-USB cable with a charger that supplies 2 amps 2,mA. If using an HP charger, check the prongs on the transformer – they are removable, and if twisted out of position no current will flow. Advanced press and hold the power, center, and volume down together until logo appears. May give the option to completely erase the unit!
